The Legacy Construction Update: Laying the Groundwork for What's Next

Evanston, IL — Work is moving right along at The Legacy Apartments! With the deep foundation work complete, the building's 44 caissons—extending 84 feet below ground—are now in place to support the future structure.

Before construction begins rising above street level, crews are completing one more critical phase: installing the geothermal system that will efficiently heat and cool the building. As the saying goes, "Sometimes you have to go down before you go up!"

The geothermal installation is already more than halfway finished, with crews drilling 500-foot-deep wells and installing the vertical heat exchangers that power the system. Once this work is completed in early August, the concrete team will begin constructing the building above ground, making progress much more visible to everyone passing by.

At the same time, utility work continues along Chicago Avenue and the alley, including new sanitary sewer, water, and stormwater connections to support the development.
